It is with great sadness that the Portland Women’s Rugby Football Club marks the passing of Kathy Flores. Many of us didn’t even know Kathy, some of us did, at least one of us played against her, but we all acknowledge the giant that she has been for our sport. From the earliest days of women’s rugby in America, Kathy was a star, a leader on the field, a leader off the field, a real force of nature in building the sport, expanding the sport, as well as playing the sport at its highest level. We enjoy the fruits of her labor, and we stand on her shoulders, as we continue to play and promote the game that we all love. Thank you, Kathy, for being so extraordinary.
